Happy Memorial Day

My weekend was so much fun. A lot of family time...just how I like it. We had extra fun because Brooke came in from Provo aaand we have Lily all week while Joel and Valerie are in Hawaii!:) The weekend started out by getting to see my dad sing in a Memorail Day concert on Friday night. Usually we're going to concerts to see my mom sing but this time it was so much fun to get to sit in the audience with my mom and watch my dad be the star. I suggest everyone goes to this concert next year. It's a free show put on by Desert Chorale down at UNLV and it's so patriotic...I love it.

Then on Monday we got to go to the lake! Brooke didn't get to come because she had to drive back to Provo...I was pretty sad about that, but we had fun for the couple days she was here. I love the lake...we all had so much fun swimming, tubeing, cliff jumping (Rex and dad were the only brave ones), knee boarding (me and Rex were the only ones who tried), and just hanging out together. Here are LOTS of pictures...

I love this picture of my dad

Lily was a little scared to get in the water with Grandpa, but she was better as soon as she got back to Grandma

They hit heads and Nina got hurt, but Rex was there to take care of her
I caught air on the tube...right before I flipped haha

Mom was the funniest

Hayley has a really big/wierd fear of water (like lakes and oceans) so I was proud of her for coming on the tube with me. She started to have fun after a while. Oh and yes...I was extremely uncomfortable. haha

My first time knee boarding...I was terrible

I am so grateful for my family and for this wonderful country!! Happy Memorial Day!

mybeautifulsis...

Last night my sister Hayley went to Prom. She was breath-taking to say the least. Joel immediately told her to run back up stairs, take off the make-up, and put on some sweats... he felt a little uncomfortable with her "actually looking like a girl, for the first time." Joel also taught Hayley some self defense moves and requested a word with her date before he took her for the night. Haha...he's a protective older brother. Hayley's date was Ned Meservey. He was such a sweet date for her and looked great in his tux...they matched perfectly! His reaction to her beauty was priceless. She walked into the room and as soon as he saw her his mouth hung open and said "Oh my gosh Hayley!" and gave her a HUGE hug. It was so funny. If you can't tell, I love to brag about my sister. She's my best friend and I honestly don't know what I would do with out her!

her shoes are to die for!!

cutest couple at the Prom...no doubt about it.

I know this picture is blurry but I just had to show my love for my sis! (please ignore the ugly braces)

~My Lily Lee~

I love my niece SO much, but she hasn't always loved me. I know...sad. For some reason Lily would be happy, laughing, and playing with everyone in my family but as soon as I would walk in the room she would look at me and yell "NO!". She also would make the meanest faces at me when I would smile at her or try to give her kisses. It was the weirdest thing but everyone thought it was so funny and told me that it is karma...I guess when I was a baby I would bite and hit people when they would try to hug or kiss me, unless of course it was my mom or Grandma. So I guess I deserved this but it still made me sad. Well things have changed recently...Lily loves me and gives me kisses!! There's the picture to prove it. Sometimes she forgets that she likes me now and it will take her a second to warm up to me but after only a couple "NO!"s and dirty looks she's my little girl again and I love it. :)

...I mean seriously, is she not the cutest little girl you've ever seen?!

brace face

So I've had quite a few people bugging me to put a picture of my braces up. I'm a little hestitant because I'm super self-conscious about how I look, but I figure everyone reading my blog is friend or family and you will still love me or at least see me in person soon anyway right?? well here ya go...

ok ok...enough of this embarassment.

Oh Danny boy...

Last night I watched American Idol and once again I was amazed by Danny's performance and I had to rewind it like 3 times. From the very first night of Hollywood week I chose Danny Gokey as my favorite and predicted that he was going to win. Don't believe me? Just ask Elder Peterson...I wrote him on that first night and told him that Danny Gokey is going to be the next American Idol. He probably thinks I'm crazy and doesn't care about American Idol but I needed to write it down so I could have proof because when I was bragging about how I chose Melissa to be the final girl on the Bachelor I had some family members who rolled their eyes and didn't believe me. Anyways...Danny. He's the best and every week I vote for him like 50 times. This is the first year I've actually voted because this is the first year that every single contestant is SO good. My second favorite contestant is Matt Geraud, he's pretty good and I could see myself buying an album of his. Adam Lambert??...um no thanks, I'm not a fan. Here's one of my favorite performances of his (ignore the huge ugly jacket, I don't know what he was thinking)...

3 months down, 21 to go...

As of yesterday, April 14th, Elder Peterson has been out for three months. He's 1/8 of the way done! (he figured that out, not me) He's doing so great and I couldn't be more proud of him. Landry is already such a great missionary..of course. Alabama sounds like a crazy place with all the red necks, tornadoes, and the unpredictable weather but it also seems beautiful with all the sweet people he's meeting and the gorgeous sunsets! I must say, I do miss my best friend quite a bit but I wouldn't have it any other way. With every letter he sends I see more strength and faith in him. He is such a good example to me and his faith strengthens my testimony. He is always sending me helpful scriptures or quotes and giving me good advice. The thing he tells me the most is to remember to always say my prayers because they will always work, so the most recent quote he sent me is "when life gets too hard to stand, kneel". He wasn't sure who said it but I love it. Thanks Brad and Kathy for raising such an amazing son.

Here's my countdown chart again with my countdown tape measure too! The tape measure is from my Grandma. It's 24 inches long and for every month he's gone I color in another inch. She sent it with a note that said "By the yard it's hard, by the inch it's a sinch"...so clever.

We love you Elder Peterson!

Happy Easter

Yay for Easter! Today was a great day...I woke up to a basket full of candy and little surprises from the Easter bunny, went to church and sat through a great sacrament meeting, then got to teach the sweetest 4/5 year old primary children in the world, chatted with Derek, Lindsey, Nixon and Miles on Skype (greatest invention ever!), had a delicious family Easter dinner, and ended the night hanging out with my family and playing with my adorable niece. It couldn't have been more perfect. I hope everyone else had a good Easter too! :) Here's some pictures of my fun day...
Rex and Nina with our Easter baskets

...I love my sis

My mom went all out with this dinner...it was so yummy!

My messy little bunny...I just can't get enough of her.

p.s. The next time most of you see me I will have some metal on my teeth. That's right...I'm getting braces tomorrow! I'm really nervous so try not to make too much fun of me. :)
