One more blonde, Mormon girl for Provo...

That's right, I am now living in Provo, Utah...the coldest place on earth. Why did I leave beautiful 70 degree weather for this?! I literally thought I was going to freeze to death this morning when I had to go out to my car, before the sun had completely risen, and scrape the ice off of all my windows. It took a good 10 minutes and gave my arms the first work out they've had in months. Maybe an 8am class wasn't such a good idea. People here are crazy...or maybe I'm the crazy one, you tell me. If it's 28 degrees outside would you wear a short sleeve dress with a light sweater and open toed shoes to church? Or would you wear tights, a long sleeve shirt, a sweater, and a jacket? This climate change might just be the death of me.

On the plus side, UVU is all indoors. I can get to all my classes without ever having to bundle up. I'm also taking a few dance classes..which makes me really happy. Buuut my schedule makes it so I have to go back and forth from one end of the campus to the other. I have a feeling people are going to get sick of seeing me come into class all out of breath and gross in my sweats. Speaking of sweats...It's my first day and I've already gotten 2 comments on my UNLV sweatshirt. One lame guy said "Hey...I think you're supporting the wrong school! It's all about UVU."...I just pretended like I didn't hear him and kept walking. Another guy stopped me to ask if UNLV really pays people to study and go to school instead of partying. Wow. My Rebel pride may result in annoying questions, comments, and looks but don't worry Las Vegas...I won't ever give it up.

The best thing about Provo is living 5 minutes from Brooke. I've only been here a few days and I love being able to see her whenever I want. It's also nice to finally live in the same city as most of the cousins my age. I'm going to be having a lot of family time while I'm here...wonderful. :) I keep hearing this is going to be such a good experience for me and that I can have a lot of fun if I have the right attitude, so that's what I'm going to do. I'm just going to be happy, make some fun girl friends, spend time with family, and embrace the cold? I'll stop venting now. Pray for me.

p.s. What is the deal with these big, thick, super wide, knitted headbands/half hats with flowers?? EVERYONE is wearing them. I would understand if girls used them to keep their ears warm but no, they just wear them as an accessory. Hmm...I just don't get it.

(this picture isn't a very good example because her ears are actually covered...but it's the only picture I could find that shows the wierd "half hat" look)

YOU LIVE IN PROVO?! So that facebook comment was about you?! AHHHH. Everything is coming together right now. Also, I really hate those headbands and everyone and their dog has at least 6 of them. Call me right now!

Hurray! I'm not the only one who has to endure Provo from the Nelson crew anymore. Let me just tell you, the cold doesn't get any easier to bare as time goes on. But the friends that you make here will hopefully help a little bit. And don't worry. I have NO idea what the headbands are about. The first time I saw one was at a testimony meeting. It took the spirit out of the room. It was sad.
